Ashly Villa-Ortega is a Staff Attorney at the Disability Rights Legal Center (DRLC). Prior to entering law school, she worked as a community organizer and policy advocate and graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with her Bachelor’s in Ethnic Studies. Ashly earned her law degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.
Before joining DRLC, Ashly worked as an associate attorney in a private mid-size firm, where she supported litigation for employment discrimination claims and civil rights claims for police misconduct/brutality, wrongful death, and excessive force cases. In her last year of law school, Ashly advocated for the special education rights of students with disabilities and defended youth in delinquency proceedings through her participation in the Youth Justice Clinic at Loyola New Orleans.
Ashly is passionate about working towards transformative change and committed to zealously advocating for the rights of people with disabilities as a staff attorney at DRLC.
