What is this? A low-cost training designed to empower Special Education advocates.

What is an Academy? One day, hands-on course taught by lawyers and law students that include interactive sessions, Q & A with experienced special education attorneys, and networking with other advocates and parents.

What will I learn? Participants will learn about special education law and advocacy, including IEPs, parental rights under the IDEA, assessments, accommodations, specialized supports and services, procedural safeguards, and dispute resolution techniques.

How much does it cost? $20 per person. Scholarships are available based on need. Includes lunch, snacks, handouts and personalized certificate.

Que es una Academia? Las Academias son de un día, cursos prácticos impartidos por abogados y estudiantes de ley que incluyen sesiones interactivas, preguntas y respuestas con abogados con experiencia con las leyes de educación especial y establecer contactos con otros defensores y padres.

Que aprenderé? Los participantes aprenderán sobre las leyes de educación especial y abogacía, incluyendo programas de educación individualizados (IEPs), derechos de los padres bajo la Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), evaluaciones, acomodaciones, apoyos y servicios especializados, salvaguardias procesales, y técnicas para resolver conflictos.

Cuanto cuesta? $20 per persona: incluye almuerzo, aperitivos, folletos de abogacía y certificado personalizado. Becas están disponibles basados en necesidades financieras.
