Tanya Avila Guzman, DRLC Board member, is a Senior Attorney at Southern California Edison Company. Tanya practices employment law and defends claims involving alleged race, age and disability discrimination, sexual harassment, and wage & hour violations. Tanya has tried cases in state and federal court securing jury verdicts for her client, as well as litigated labor arbitrations and matters before the California Labor Commissioner and National Labor Relations Board. Tanya’s advice and counsel work includes employee discipline, mobile computing policies, drug & alcohol testing, background investigations, and wage & hour issues.
Prior to joining SCE’s Law Department, Tanya was an associate at O’Melveny & Myers where she also practiced employment law. Tanya earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 2003, and her law degree from University of Chicago Law School in 2007.
Tanya is a mother of three and active in her parish community including leading women’s bible studies and baptism classes.
