Who We Are
From landmark litigation victories to frontline direct services, DRLC is a trusted voice and defender for some of the most underserved and overlooked communities in California and beyond.
Our Story
For 50 years, the Disability Rights Legal Center (DRLC) has stood as the nation’s oldest disability non-profit law center. Our mission remains unwavering: to empower people living with disabilities and cancer. We believe in centering our work around our clients’ needs to create changes that last.

Serving Those
Most in Need
We’re dedicated to serving the most vulnerable, particularly those in neglected communities. Over 90% of those we help are indigent and face significant barriers to legal aid for disability and illness-related challenges. Beyond individual cases, DRLC’s strategy focuses on systemic change through impact litigation, a powerful tool we use to ensure access and bring justice to all spaces.
Civil Rights Litigation
Educates, advocates, and litigates to protect and advance civil and human rights for people with disabilities. We tackle large-scale legal battles to break down barriers and ensure equality.
Cancer Justice
We provide legal services for people with cancer and their families. Facing a diagnosis can bring overwhelming questions about job security, savings, or housing, and we believe these individuals deserve to have clear, accessible, and exceptional legal resources.
Our Team
At the Disability Rights Legal Center, our impact is powered by a passionate and skilled team of advocates, legal experts, and dedicated professionals. Each member brings unique expertise and an unwavering commitment to fighting for the rights of people with disabilities and those impacted by cancer.
